Volvo?s flagship luxury crossover SUV gets modest tweaks for the 2012 model year. The XC90 now sports refreshed exterior and interior features and continues to dominate its segment. The 2012 Volvo XC90, available in available in both front- or all-wheel drive configurations, comes in Premium Plus 3.2, Premium Plus R-Design, Platinum 3.2 and Platinum R-Design trims.
Powertrain And Performance
All 2011 XC90 models are powered by a 3.2 liter, 6-cylinder, DOHC, 24-valve engine rated at 240 hp and 236 pounds-feet of torque. This engine mated to an efficient Six-speed "Geartronic" driver-adaptive automatic transmission. It delivers a fuel economy of 16 mpg in city and 23 on highways.
Build And Styling
New daytime running lights, tail lights, LED brake lights, redesigned silver metallic bumper bar and silver roof rails are standard on all XC90 models. The new six-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels in silver matte finish add elegance to the crossover. The R-Design models are equipped with new 19-inch wheels, redesigned upholstery. Bluetooth hands-free phone interface gains audio streaming connection, ergonomically designed power front seats, Dual-zone Electronic Climate Control (ECC), power glass moonroof, cruise control, Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth hands-free phone interface with audio streaming and a high performance audio system are standard. Volvo Navigation System with real time traffic, remote control, Map Care with two complimentary map updates and rear park assist camera is standard on the 3.2 Platinum trim.
Safety Features
Like other Volvo cars, the 2012 XC90 comes with a slew of ultra modern safety features including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) and Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS).
