Overview
The five-passenger Volvo XC70 wagon received a small fuel economy improvement for 2010. For 2012, the XC70 is available in Base 3.2 and up level T6 trims. All XC70 models now come with some different interior trim and a trendy grille with a larger logo. The optional packages are reorganized and renamed and the navigation system gets revised graphics and menus. A front-wheel-drive version of the 3.2 trim which joins the all-wheel-drive model is new and Sirius Satellite Radio is now standard.
Powertrain And Performance
A 3.2-liter engine pumping out 235-horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission, with manual mode for driver-controlled gear changes powers the Volvo XC70 with a standard all-wheel drive. The XC70 T6 has a six-speed automatic transmission and AWD system and gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine rated at 281 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy estimates of both engines stand at 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined.
Build And Styling
The XC70 AWD has PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) rated 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine with 225 horsepower (joins carryover ULEV version with 235 horsepower), trendy grille with larger Iron Mark logo, chrome trim accent around side windows and standard Sirius satellite radio preparation. Further, the XC70 includes silk metal key fob bezel, steering wheel with silk metal accents (requires Premium Package), Multimedia Package with Dynaudio premium sound system, Sirius satellite radio and Volvo DVD-based navigation system. The Technology Package replaces Collision Avoidance Package with same contents and screen refresh for available navigation system now includes start-up screen, user-friendly icons and more distinctive menus.
Safety Features
Stability control, traction control, the next generation whiplash protection system (WHIPS) and tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are standard. Inflatable side curtain airbags, dual-chamber side curtain airbags, dual-stage front airbags, anti-lock brakes, and the LATCH attachment system for children's seats are also standard. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Distance Alert, collision warning with auto brake, driver alert control (DAC), dual xenon gas discharge headlights with active Bending Lights (ABL), HomeLink Remote Garage door opener, Personal Car Communicator (PCC) and power operated tailgate are optional.
