Overview
The 2011 Volvo C30 is a grand Volvo coupe with an aggressive new face comprising revised styling with new front fascia, fenders, hood, grille and headlights and an intriguing interior that catches everyone's attention at a single glance. It is available in two trims - T5 and T5 R-Design. The new C30 was premiered at the 39th annual South Florida International Auto Show in October 2009.
Powertrain And Performance
A 2.5 liter, DOHC, inline turbocharged 5-cylinder rated at 227 horsepower and236 lb ft of torque is standard on both models. A six-speed manual is standard and a five-speed "Geartronic" microprocessor-controlled automatic with "Auto-stick" function is optional.
The new C30 delivers an EPA estimated 21 miles per gallon in city and 30 miles per gallon on highways with automatic transmission and with manual transmission it yields 21/29 mpg city/highway. The cargo capacity has been estimated at 12.9 cubic feet with seats up and 20.2 cubic feet with seats down.
Build And Styling
The 2011 Volvo C30 comes with a radical new front appearance comprising a new hood, fenders, trapezoidal headlights and a lower front valance. The air intake has also grown in size and the C30 gets a unique, black egg crate grille. Tinted windows and two-speed windshield wipers with intermittent cycle are among the standard exterior features. Dual xenon gas discharge headlights with active bending light are optional on both T5 and T5 R-Design models.
The interior is equipped with cruise control, ergonomically designed seats, driver seat with manual tilt, recline and adjustable lumbar support, 50/50 split-folding rear seat, and tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio controls. A high performance eight-speaker single CD stereo system with HD Radio, AUX and USB inputs, anti-theft LED and Dolby, 160-watt amplifier is standard. Bluetooth hands-free phone interface also comes standard.
The T5 R-design model comes with 18-inch "Midir" alloy wheels, Sport Chassis with 30% stiffer springs, 20% increased low-speed damping and 10% quicker steering ratio, stand-alone Sirius satellite radio option and a Multimedia Package that adds HDD-based navigation system with real time traffic, remote control and map care.
Safety Features
The new C30 comes with a long list of hi-tech safety features including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), ISO-FIX baby/child seat attachment system, seat belts, side impact airbags for driver and front passenger, side impact protection system and WHIPS.
Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is optional.
