Overview
Volvo likes to call the V50 its weekend vehicle. This stylish urban-centric station wagon can best be summed up in this statement. Built on a popular Ford platform, it is the wagon version of the S40 small car. Making its debut in 2004, this car is going to grow by next year, according to Volvo. The 2010 Volvo V50, a five-passenger compact wagon, is available in 2.4i and T5 AWD R-Design trim levels.
Powertrain And Performance
The Volvo V50 2.4i is powered by a 168-horsepower, 2.4-liter, five-cylinder engine (EPA estimated 20 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined), while the T5 AWD R-Design is motivated by the five-cylinder, turbocharged in-line engine that produces 227 horsepower with an EPA ratings of 20/26/22 mpg with the manual and 19/27/22 with the auto. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard for both the engines. The T5 AWD R-Design trim comes with an all-wheel drive configuration.
Build And Styling
The Volvo V50 receives a number of new features across the line. The 2.4i now comes with adjustable front head restraints with two positions, standard Electronic Climate Control (ECC), optional Sirius satellite radio new option and standard leather gearshift knob with aluminum inlay. Volvo DVD-based navigation system is a new option.
The T5 AWD R-Design features adjustable front head restraints with two positions, standard 6-speed manual transmission, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with "geartronic" now optional.
The new Preferred Package includes power glass moonroof, power front passenger's seat and Keyless Drive. Interior Air Quality System (IAQS) and humidity sensor for Electronic Climate Control (ECC) are now included with Climate Package.
