Overview
The 2010 Volvo S40 is available in two trim levels - S40 2.4i, S40 T5 R-Design and S40 T5 AWD R-Design. The S40 compact sport sedan excels in Volvo's majestic virtues of safety, performance, design and technology. The minor changes for this model year make the three models of S40 even more attractive.
Powertrain And Performance
The 2.4i trim is powered by a 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine rated at 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard and a five-speed automatic is optional. It delivers 20 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highways. The T5 R-Design and T5 AWD R-Design are equipped with a turbo-charged, 2.5-liter, good for 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed automatic is standard. The AWD T5 R-Design has a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with the automatic being optional. While 2.4i and T5 R-Design trims offer front-wheel-drive, the T5 AWD R-design provides all-wheel-drive experience.
Build And Styling
For 2010, the S40 2.4i gets new adjustable front head restraints with two positions, standard Electronic Climate Control (ECC), standard leather gearshift lever with aluminum inlay, new Preferred Package includes power glass moonroof, power front passenger's seat and Keyless Drive, interior Air Quality System (IAQS) and humidity sensor for Electronic Climate Control (ECC) now included with Climate Package, optional Sirius satellite radio and the available Volvo DVD-based navigation system.
The S40 T5 R-Design and T5 AWD R-Design's new Preferred Package includes power glass moonroof, power front passenger's seat and Keyless Drive. Interior Air Quality System (IAQS) and humidity sensor for Electronic Climate Control (ECC) are now included with Climate Package. The Multimedia Package replaces Dynaudio Package and includes Sirius satellite radio.
Safety Features
The 2010 Volvo S40 offers wide range of safety features which outperform other cars in the segment. Its standard safety features include dual-stage airbags for driver and front passenger, side-impact protection system, side-impact airbags for driver and front passenger, inflatable side curtains, head restraints for all seats and whiplash protection system.
